What people ask before sending the first photo.
Do I need a 3D file or CAD drawing to get started?
No. Most clients bring us a broken part, a photo, or just a description of what they need. We handle the 3D scanning, CAD modelling, and engineering, so you never need to touch design software. If you already have a file, we can work from that too.
What kinds of parts can you make?
We engineer custom replacement parts for boats and marine hardware, older Portuguese homes and properties, vintage and classic cars, and motorcycles. If it's non-structural and can be produced in engineering-grade plastic, we can probably help. If it can't, we'll tell you.
How long does a typical job take?
Most custom parts are scanned, modelled, printed, and finished within a few days. Complex projects or multi-part jobs may take longer. We confirm the timeline before starting. We're based in Cascais, so local pickup and on-site scanning are straightforward.
What materials do you print in?
We select the material based on your application. Options include PETG for general-purpose strength, ASA for UV and weather resistance (common for marine and outdoor parts), TPU for flexible components like gaskets and seals, and PLA for visual or interior pieces. We'll recommend what works, and flag when 3D printing isn't the right process.
Can you scan a part directly from my boat, car, or property?
Yes. We use a professional 3D scanner and can scan on site: at Cascais Marina, at your home, at your garage. The scanner captures exact dimensions so the replacement fits precisely. No disassembly diagrams or measurements needed from your side.
Do you make structural or safety-critical parts?
Not currently. We produce non-structural, non-safety-critical parts. Interior trim, covers, brackets, fittings, handles, mounts, and decorative elements. If a request involves load-bearing, pressure, or safety applications, we'll be upfront about what FDM 3D printing can and can't do.
Do you work with workshops and service companies?
Yes. We supply parts to marine service companies, chandleries, restoration shops, and property managers who handle the client relationship themselves. Send a photo of the part on WhatsApp; quotes usually within 48 hours, work invoiced monthly if you prefer. On-site scanning available across Cascais, Estoril, Sintra, and Lisbon marina.
